Launceston Refugee Support Group is a new group of local people taking action to support refugees. People are already active in our community collecting and sending aid to refugees. We want to build on this and strengthen networks.
We have various speakers lined up with direct practical experience to share – first hand accounts of deliveries to refugee camps, the organisational challenges of providing support, what is needed and what works.
The Bude group have just become the first independent community group in the country to get as far as receiving approval to host a Syrian family (the first of two, they hope) from the resettlement programme – can Launceston to step up to the mark (as we did in 1915 and the 1970s)
If you are interested come along and find out how you can help in direct simple practical ways.
